Peer Review Process
We are of the opinion that quality academic publishing revolves around peer review at the Journal of Progressive Social Inquiry. It aids in making sure that all the articles that we are publishing are rigorous, meaningful, and contribute towards the knowledge of social science in a real way.
Our review process is also meant to be impartial, transparent, and constructive - it should provide constructive feedback to authors, but has to be of high quality in terms of editorial standards.
How Our Peer Review Works
1. Initial Editorial Screening
After you turn in your manuscript, our editorial staff will review that to confirm:
● Relevance to the journal’s aim and scope
● Basic formatting and structure
● Adherence to ethical practices.
● Originality of content
Only the manuscripts, which pass this preliminary check are referred to full peer review.
2. Double-Blind Review
We apply a double-blind peer review, i.e., the following:
● Those who review are unaware of the identity of the authors.
● The writers are unaware of the identities of reviewers.
This assists in making sure that there is no bias or subjective analysis.
3. Expert Evaluation
Your manuscript is sent to two or more individuals, who are knowledgeable experts in the field, and they review:
● Originality and contribution of research.
● Arguments and methodology are clear.
● Quality of analysis and evidence.
● Relevance to the discourse of social science.
The comments and recommendations given by the reviewers are detailed, and thus help in improving your work.
4. Review Outcomes
The editorial team can choose to make changes based on the reaction of the reviewers:
● Accept the manuscript
● Demand Minor or Major Revisions.
● Reject the manuscript
In case revisions are demanded, authors are provided with specific instructions and sufficient period of time to respond to the reviews.
5. Final Decision and Publication
After all the changes are made and agreed upon the manuscript is sent into copyediting, formatting and publication in a later issue of JPSI.
What You Can Expect
● Positive, impartial, and private evaluation.
● Effective communication during the process.
● Positive feedback which can be used to reinforce your work.
At the Journal of Progressive Social Inquiry, peer review is not merely a mere ritual - it is a shared endeavor toward the promotion of high-quality.
