Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement
In the Journal of Progressive Social Inquiry, we assume that the core of a meaningful and credible research is moral behavior. Trust, responsibility, and integrity are the foundation of good scholarship, and we require these virtues of all of the people participating in the publication process, whether it is the author, reviewer, or an editor.
This statement provides the ethical standards that we observe and the norms on which we base our protection against malpractices.
Guiding Principles
In academic publication we observe the conventional ethical principles, which are dictated by such principles as:
● Honesty in reporting research results
● Fairness in review and evaluation
● Respect for the intellectual contributions of others
● Accountability in editorial and authorship practices
These guidelines assist in making research that has been published by JPSI credible, transparent, and socially significant.
Author Responsibilities
Authors of work to JPSI must:
✔ Ensure originality
The manuscript should also be new, not published, and not under consideration elsewhere.
✔ Acknowledge sources
There should be the proper citation of all the works referred. Plagiarism- self or otherwise will not be entertained.
✔ Present data honestly
Data that are fabricated, falsified or manipulated are very unacceptable.
✔ Disclose Conflicts of Interest
Writers are expected to be transparent on funding, or any type of relationship that might affect their writing.
✔ Respect Co-Author Contributions
Authors should be listed only when they have contributed greatly in the intellectual and practical sphere. Lack of these duties can lead to rejection or even additional action.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Peer reviewers are critical to quality maintenance. Reviewers are expected to:
● Evaluate manuscripts fairly and without bias
● Cover up the review process.
● Avoid conflicts of interest
● Give positive and effective feedback.
The reviewers are to inform the editor in case they believe that something ethically wrong has occurred, like plagiarism or data misconduct.
Editorial Responsibilities
The editorial team will be dedicated to:
● Managing an open and fair reviewing procedure.
● Decision-making on the grounds of academic merit.
● Addressing Ethical concerns Promptly and Rigorously.
● Clearance of confidential information exchanged during review.
No commercial interests, personal relationship, or external pressure is involved in editorial
decision-making.
Managing Misconduct
JPSI will behave in a responsible and transparent manner in case of any ethical violation.
Possible actions include:
● Rejecting the manuscript
● Issuing a correction or clarification.
● Retracting an article
● Providing information to relevant institutions where necessary.
Some of the misconducts are; plagiarism, publication duplication, fabricated data, and improper authorship.
Corrections and Retractions
In case of any mistakes or ethical concerns, which are revealed after the publication, we can:
● Publish corrections or clarifications.
● Retract the article if the findings are unreliable
● Provide the discontinuation reasons publicly.
Corrections and retractions are handled in a transparent way with respect to all parties involved.
